On the hot summer day of June 12th, you could feel the bustling excitement walking into Silver Lake Country Club to finally celebrate Kelly & Doug’s wedding after they rescheduled in 2020 due to the pandemic. The sun was shining bright, birds chirping over the golf course, and Kelly was getting ready with her ladies and enjoying some breakfast in their private room. Her dress hung by the window before her mom and sister helped her get into her dress and get ready for her first look with Doug. In the meantime, the guys were prepping in their room on the other side of the building, laughing and getting their jackets on. It was time for Doug to see his bride!
The First Look
Doug made his way to a shaded area on the course to get in position before Kelly made her way down as well. After a 3, 2, 1, Doug turned around and the happiest grin danced across his face. His soon-to-be wife was absolutely glowing, and he was in awe of it all! It was so stinking cute! After a few photos, we gave them some alone time while we grabbed the wedding party for photos. One of the best parts about first looks is that they allow you time together alone for a few minutes, letting you really focus on what’s most important that day – your love and marriage!
The Ceremony
Once portraits with the wedding party were over, we headed down to the ceremony which took place on the golf course. Since Kelly is Christian and Doug is Jewish, they decided to combine both to honor both their faiths, including verses from scripture and ending the ceremony with breaking the glass. This piece in Jewish tradition represents the destruction of the Jewish temple and that their marriage covenant is final. Their guests exclaimed, “Mazel Tov!’ meaning “congratulations” or “good luck,” and it was official! Kelly and Doug are husband and wife!!
The Reception
After some time soaking in golden hour for portraits, it was time to celebrate! Kelly and Doug’s friends and family shared incredibly kind words about their character as individuals and together, and how wonderful of a match they are. It is so clear that they are both incredibly loyal – something that the people around them really treasure. Once everyone enjoyed the delicious meal for dinner (and WOW was it amazing), it was time to dance the night away as the sun disappeared behind the trees. Cheesecake, s’mores, and cake were available for guests to enjoy, and the night was so much fun!
To the Bride & Groom
Kelly and Doug, you two are the sweetest souls! Your kindness never fails to make others feel loved and special whether you’ve just met them or known them for years. It’s a joy to get to meet couples like you that are a reflection of what love looks like, and we are so excited for you both as you start your married lives together! To the Schmidt’s!! Congratulations!
