Their Love Story

Kirsten and Justyn met freshman year of high school in a mutual class, but never talked until two years later, when Justyn got her number and sent her a quick text to say hello! After time in the friend zone, Justyn finally made his way out and took her on their first date to the movies to see one of the Taken sequels. They hit it off and he asked her to be his girlfriend once they’d been going out for a while!

Justyn was known to be the guy who went above and beyond for his girl, such as coming up with elaborate ways to ask her to dances. She never had to doubt how he felt or how special she was to him. They’re the perfect high school sweetheart story! Not to mention, this duo was movie-worthy on Friday nights since she cheered and he played football.

The Engagement

After five years, Justyn was ready to make this girl his wife! Kirsten’s mom and his both helped him choose the perfect setting for her and the planning started! His original plan was to propose at Fellows Riverside Gardens (where we took this session!), but things changed and he adjusted to his new plan. The day after Thanksgiving, Justyn made up the story that his brother had left something in the car and he needed to swing by the house to give it back. But instead of driving all the way there, he stopped Poland Town Hall Garden, got his lady out of the car, and took her to the pergola decorated with rose petals, candles, and “MARRY ME” spelled out in white letters. She excitedly said, “Yes!” and now they are planning their wedding after Kirsten finishes Optometry school.

What’s a little funny is that Kirsten did have some idea that this might be happening soon! Any time they’d talk about it, Justyn would avoid it, which was weird to her. She and her roommate at OSU started piecing things Justyn would say and do until they figured this must be what’s going on. It was confirmed in her head when Justyn randomly asked her if she’d like to go to dinner when she got home for Thanksgiving break, but it was quite a while away. She tried to talk herself out of it knowing they both wanted it to be a surprise, but honestly, it happened perfectly regardless! Plus, in my opinion, you usually kinda know it might be happening – right?!

The Session

At their engagement session, Kirsten and Justyn were troopers in crazy hot and humid weather! But, WOW, did they look stunning!! What’s really evident about their relationship is that it’s built on a really strong friendship. There’s a deep closeness and connection you can feel when you’re around them – like they’re a team no matter what happens. It’s an amazing foundation for a marriage, that’s for sure! We spent our time together soaking in the golden rays, trying not to melt, and laughing along the way talking about our lives in the future. It was extra special too since K & I went to elementary and middle school together, and now we’re both engaged to the men of our dreams! This is truly such a special season!

Kirsten & Justyn, I am so so happy for you! It was so much fun getting to spend time with you both – even if the weather was a bit toasty – and I cannot wait to see how you take on marriage! Sending you all the love and congratulations!! – Bree
