Covid may throw off plans, but nothing will ever get rid of godly marriages. Julie and Tayler’s love story is a true testament to that!
Julie and Tayler met at a Christian conference at Watermark church in Texas, and followed each other on Instagram. Months later, they met again, and this time started getting to know each other, eventually finding themselves in a long distance relationship from Ohio to Florida. After meeting up and having the sweetest date in Washington D.C., they both knew something about this relationship was special. It was the right person at the right time, and they both pursued each other so intentionally.
They got engaged in January 2020, and started planning their intimate wedding for the end of June. Meeting with Julie, she talked all about Jesus writing our stories, and how God had written such a beautiful one in hers. Her eyes smiled when she talked about both her men: Jesus and Tayler, and I knew that this would not only be a special bride, but a special friend. Somehow by the end of her consultation, we had moved completely away from weddings and solely onto faith. She is truly so encouraging.
March 2020: Covid Changes All Wedding Plans
By March, the world had shut down, and no one knew what would happen next. Talking to Julie, it was hard to hear how difficult it was to go see her love and for him to see her. My heart broke knowing that everything was so uncertain for both of them in this long distance relationship.
The day before Julie’s birthday at the end of March, I got an exciting text that they had eloped!! I remember tearing up knowing they tied the knot and did exactly what Jesus was calling them to do. They were finally married, and felt this process actually fit them best. Julie even said that eloping was perfect for their unconventional relationship.
Before she could move to Florida to be with her new hubby, Julie had to come home and finish working and moving her things. This was the final leap they needed to finally live together full time, no more airport goodbyes. On June 13th, they finally took that last flight to their Florida home together as a married couple, never having to watch the other take off alone again. Watching them grow through marriage has been a beautiful thing, and one of my favorite highlights of 2020.
This newly married session reflects exactly what I think God intended when He created marriage: trust, hard work, intentional pursuit, selflessness in serving another person, and obedience to what GOD has for us, not what the world wants for us.
Weddings are a beautiful thing and a sweet celebration. But love is not a wedding day, it’s what these two demonstrate every day. Congratulations, Julie & Tayler Lirocchi. You’re story is a blessing to others, and you are such an encouragement to Hayes and me! We are beyond happy for you!! Here’s to real love!
