From a chance meeting to a beautiful proposal surrounded by family and friends, Rachel and Alex have a love so strong that it’s easy to tell they were meant to find one another. Celebrating their season of engagement, we chose Balboa Park for their photography session, the lush flowers and golden light dancing behind them in every scene.

Their Meet-Cute

Rachel and Alex’s love story began back in 2018 with a spark on the intramural softball field. After feeling that instant connection, they made plans for a brunch date to get to know one another better. Conversation came effortlessly — and from that very first day, they both knew something special was unfolding.

Now, over six and a half years later, that spark has grown into a steady, joyful flame. Through academic milestones, weekend music festivals, and even the joys of cat ownership, these two have built a partnership grounded in deep friendship, playful energy, and unwavering trust. Their bond is easy, fun, and deeply genuine — the kind of connection that just feels meant to be.

The Summer Malibu Proposal

This past August, Alex planned a surprise proposal that was nothing short of magical. With blue skies above and the sound of waves crashing along the coast, he led Rachel to a scenic ocean overlook in Los Angeles. There, surrounded by breathtaking views, he asked her to be his wife. After happily accepting, the celebration continued at Malibu Wines, where a group of their closest friends was waiting to greet them with cheers, hugs, and wine.

Their Engagement Session at San Diego’s Balboa Park

For their engagement session, we explored the timeless beauty of Balboa Park in San Diego, with its Spanish-style architecture and blooming spring gardens, to celebrate their move to the city. We started at Casa Del Rey Morro Gardens, taking in the quiet luxury it offers. Next, was the view from the Timken Museum of Art, California Tower glowing behind them. The Botanical Building and Alcazar Gardens were our final two stops, offering the most romantic backdrops. Every corner of the park reflected their joyful, easy connection, and we had a wonderful time talking together!

Whether twirling beneath the trees, laughing mid-stroll down museum walkways, or sharing a quiet kiss by the flower beds, Rachel and Alex made this session come alive with warmth, love, and lighthearted fun. Their chemistry shines in every photo, and it’s clear these two are absolutely perfect for each other.
