As the doors opened in the back of the church, John looked down the aisle to see his bride, Brienne, making her way towards him. It was a moment they’d both been waiting for for almost three years, and finally, after three rescheduled dates, it was their wedding day. Huge smile on her face, Brie met her man at the alter, ready to be his wife, her flowing ruffled dress cascading behind her.
Being a part of J&B’s wedding day was something we all had been excitedly preparing for. The past year went nothing like anyone could have planned, pushing their original April 2020 date not once, but twice, yet the two of them handled each road block with such grace and high hopes. They knew when all was said and done, they would finally be married to the person of their dreams, and that was all that mattered!
Getting Ready for the Wedding
Hayes and I stepped into Brie’s sister’s home and were excitedly greeted by Brie, all done up in her robe. Her hair was swept back with pieces to frame her face, and she was just glowing from head to toe. Her bridesmaids had pink “BRIDE” balloons set up and snacks to munch on as they all got ready, and the flower girls had their floral crowns and dresses on, giggling away. We snuck some detail photos in, featuring their new invitations and the perfect set of wedding rings! Seriously, could this set be more photogenic?!
Brie took a few moments to read a beautiful letter John had written her all about how well she loves and how grateful he is for her and their relationship. This man can WRITE, that’s for sure! We then got Brie into her dress and headed off to the church at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
The Wedding Ceremony
After arriving at the church, we grabbed some getting ready photos of John and his groomsmen getting their jackets on and adjusting ties. Next, we got John set up facing away from the church to have a first look with his nieces – the flower girls. Thanks to tinted windows, Brie was able to watch the whole thing from inside the party bus as John turned around to see the most angelic little ladies all dressed up.
The ceiling-high artwork framing the scene, Brie and John celebrated their Mass to officially become husband and wife, surrounded by their friends and family. When it came time to share their first kiss, their huge grins could be seen from miles away, and it was magical!
Portraits and Reception
Following the ceremony, everyone made their way to The Lake Club of Ohio for the celebration! While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we joined the wedding party at The Butler Institute of American Art, then made our way to the reception for bride and groom portraits on the golf course. After driving what seemed like their entire property, we finally found the perfect set of flowering trees, the sun peaking just behind them. My photographer heart was in pure bliss!!
Once photos were done, it was time to party! J&B shared their first dance to Better Together by Jack Johnson, and cut their cake which John made himself! He might just have to make that a career because my goodness, was that cake good!! Heartfelt speeches from Brie’s sister and their friends touched on the character of this couple: genuine, thoughtful, and incredibly loving. They are a beautiful example of what selfless love looks like, and that’s something everyone in the room agreed on. Late night bites from Auntie Anne’s ended the night, including their famous pretzels and lemonade.

Getting to celebrate with you two was something both of us will never forget. The best things are worth the wait, and your wedding was no exception. Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Tomko!
