Early December always holds so much joy and excitement. The slight chill in the air creating anticipation for Christmas in the coming weeks. The light snowfall on the ground in the mornings, even if it melts by the end of the day. The music, the bustle of everyone grabbing their gifts to give their loved ones. It’s honestly the perfect time for a winter wedding! Mika & Nick’s winter wedding day at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet made an already beautiful time of year even more special!
Getting Ready
Tucked away in separate rooms, Mika & Nick got ready at The Holiday Inn. Nick was with his guys enjoying the morning with food and beers, which Mika and her ladies put on those last minute hair and makeup touches in their matching PJs. The guys got into their suit jackets and the best men both helped Nick get his jacket on before they all headed for Holy Family Church in their party bus. While the bridesmaids got their dresses on, Mika and her mom got her into her strapless lace ballgown, then hid while we positioned her ladies for their first look with the bride.
When the girls opened their eyes, there were gasps and a lot of tears. Mika looked like a princess and her friends and sister were so excited to watch her marry Nick after years together!
The Ceremony at Holy Family Church
Before anyone walked down the aisle, Mika took a moment to honor her grandpa that would soon walk her down by doing a first look with him as well. His smile could not have been any bigger, and the few family members around tried not to cry too much while witnessing this precious moment! His girl is all grown up!
Nick and his brothers processed down first, followed by the wedding party pairs, and then the maid of honors. Everyone stood to watch Mika make her way down, arm in arm with her grandpa, and Nick was soaking in every moment. He’d been waiting for this since elementary school!
The ceremony was filled with beautiful readings from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible all about a Christ-centered marriage. The priest blessed the rings before having our bride and groom place them on one another’s fingers. After being pronounced man and wife, these two shared a kiss while walking back down the aisle as everyone cheered!
Wedding Party Portrait Time
The newlyweds with their wedding party braved the cold winter air for portraits outside Niles McKinley Library’s marble stairs. Holding Christmas red bouquets and wearing frosty blues and navy, this bunch looked absolutely stellar, but their fun personalities made this portion such a breeze – even if we all were freezing! You know you have a great group when the cold is still just as enjoyable because you’re smiling so much!
Once the formals were all done, the group was free to enjoy the warm party bus!
Bride & Groom Sunset Portraits
Finally getting some one on one time together, the new Mr. & Mrs. Mrozek snuggled up in the chilly weather! They truly are best friends and it’s the sweetest thing to watch!! Nick twirled his wife around, and the biggest smile danced across his face! He’d been saying this all day, but he was PUMPED that he finally married Mika. It gave us all the fairytale feels.
Once we got portraits done, it was time to head to the party to celebrate these two!!
Wedding Reception at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet
Walking into the room, you were greeted with round tables – white linens kissing the floor, sequin table runners, and red florals everywhere. An ice sculpture in the shape of a heart with N&M on it sat in the corner by the buffet, and guests were mingling by the bar. On the other side of the room, white draping hung from the ceilings, cookie tables lined the wall, and above the gifts table featured a projection of the couples’ names. The cake was placed in the center of the dance floor, the sweetheart table directly behind it, and wedding party tables on either side. The DJ had a huge booth, and in front was a light up sign that said, “The Mrozek’s.” The whole place was dressed to the 9’s!
Entrances were filled with creative ideas from the wedding party from piggy back rides to Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys and terrible towels! Our couple came in high-fiving their party, then started their first dance. Everyone watched them with soft smiles, and it felt like watching the scene from Cinderella where they dance to “So This is Love.” Mika also shared a special dance with her grandpa, and it’s a beautiful thing to see a relationship like that! Dinner was absolutely delicious, as were the cookies, and these two shared their first bites of cake together with no smashing!
The night followed with lots of dancing, Mika and her mama totally owning that dance floor, and everyone had a true blast! It was such a great night!!
To the Couple:
Mika & Nick, you are two true gems and we both feel so blessed to have met you! You make strangers feel like friends and are such an encouragement. We need more people like you two in the world and we can’t wait to see how you continue to grow your love in marriage. Never stop being genuine and loving! We will definitely need to celebrate with cocktails in San Diego soon!!
Congratulations!!
