On a middle school bus, Nick saw that Mikalyn had the new Razor phone, and decided to go over to her and ask if he could see it. (Anyone else remember these phones?!) She was very sly and while he was looking at her cool new gadget, she told him to put his number in!! They soon became close friends who mostly talked about music, and their families became very close as well.
In 9th and 10th grade, Nick asked Mika on a date and she told him no and just wanted to be friends! Yikes – haha! When Mika’s grandma found out, she encouraged her to give Nick a shot, and she decided to take that advice. Their first date was grabbing ice cream and strolling around the park (like the cute romantic comedies we all watched on Disney growing up). They became “official” in 2012, and have stuck together ever since!
Nick and his brother are both interested in photography, so when Nick knew it was time to ask his love to marry him, his brother was his right hand guy. He decided to do it in Toronto on top of the CN Tower after Valentine’s Day, but getting the ring up there was quite the struggle!
The tower had strict security at the doors, so Nick needed to come up with a plan and FAST so Mika wouldn’t see them catching the ring. Nick’s brother hid the ring in his camera bag and he went ahead of them so she wouldn’t see. The security guard saw the ring and knew not to say anything, so the surprise plan was still in motion.
Once they got to the top, Mikalyn went in front to walk around, and Nick was behind her when he said, “Hey, I have a question for you…” and was down on one knee. She had absolutely no idea, and Nick’s brother caught the moment on his camera – so sweet!!
Their engagement session was precious, and it was so much fun to spend time with them both. They very clearly are each others’ best friend, and Mika is definitely one of my soul sisters!! She rocks hair and makeup, and needs to start a blog of her own, which I will have to share with you guys once she does!
We ended their session on a rooftop downtown, and it was such a magical way to end everything. Nick even said while slow dancing with her that he wishes he would have proposed to her sooner because he genuinely loves her so much. My heart!!
Congratulations, Mika and Nick! I am so excited to celebrate your life long love and watch you two get married!! Cheers!
