Seven years ago on the University of San Diego’s campus, Bailey was sitting in a dorm lobby when she spotted Aaron. Immediately thinking he was cute and hoping to catch his eye, she quickly ran back to her room to change out of the cozy Christmas onesie she’d been wearing. When she returned, she did grab his attention and he walked over to say hello.
That first interaction became a close friendship, but they’d each wanted it to be more. They’d talked about tattoos they’d both been wanting, and decided to bite the bullet and get them at the same time, turning into their first date.
The Plan
After several years of dating bliss, Aaron knew he wanted Bailey to be his wife, but wanted it to be really special. Hoping to throw her off, he would intentionally make little comments to make it seem like getting a ring was far away, such as stating a car purchase was much more expensive than it really was for him. He’d only told a few select friends of his plan, and on the day he got the ring, he had one of those friends pretend Aaron had been hanging out with him as a cover.
These two are the traveling type, so when they booked a back to back trip from Singapore to Bali, Bailey still had no idea. Right before they left, Aaron called her dad to ask for his permission, but was sure to ask him to keep the secret, even from Bailey’s mom!
The Proposal
Being extra careful, Aaron brought a fake ring on the trip to propose with. He packed it in his bag, making sure it would be in a place she wouldn’t check.
Before a date night in Bali, Aaron set up the camera to grab photos of their outfits for social media, except when he walked back to Bailey to “pose,” he got down on one knee. In shock, she went silent as he told her just how much she meant to him, and her “Yes!” was an easy one! (P.S. You can watch their proposal HERE). When they got home, he presented her with the real ring, and they have been excitedly wedding planning since!
The Engagement Session
The day of their engagement session, the skies were perfectly clear. The waves softly crashing over the Sunset Cliffs, it was the perfect day for their session. We started by some brush and trees as the sun got lower, and by the time the sun was setting, there was the most beautiful peach and purple glow in the sky. Between kisses and laughs, we got to hang out with these two, and their joy is absolutely contagious! They are as warm and kind in person as they are online, and it’s very refreshing. These two are truly wonderful!
