On a brisk fall day in Toronto, Canada, David and Tali prepared for their wedding day at Beth Avraham Yoseph. After meeting in Israel while he was studying and she was visiting with friends, these two were matched up. Funny enough, Tali’s best friend is David’s cousin! Their love quickly grew through intentional dates and FaceTime calls, and after a few months, David planned the perfect proposal with romantic red rose petals and candles. Surrounded by family, it was an easy yes for Tali.
Preparing for their wedding day, these two didn’t talk for five days, as is Jewish tradition. Needless to say, they were very eager to finally get to see and talk to each other again!
Kabbalas Panim
Before the ceremony (Chuppah), the bride and groom have two separate receptions where they greet their guests and enjoy quick bites. After reading through the marriage contract, David was surrounded by all his guys and escorted to the girl’s reception where they had the Orthodox Jewish version of a first look! Their families are all witnesses as they see each other for the first time, cheering and singing as David whispered in Tali’s ear and put her veil over her face. Tears were in so many eyes!
Chuppah & Simchas Chassen V’Kallah
Once the Kabbalas Panim was over, it was time for the Chuppah, a traditional Orthodox Jewish wedding. The “Chuppah” stands for the canopy with four poles, meant to represent the home the newlyweds will build together. Holding candles and escorted by his parents, David made his way down the aisle first, followed by both his and Tali’s family members, and lastly, Tali and her parents. The guests filled the room, and beautiful music sung in Hebrew filled the room.
After the ceremony & portraits, David and Talia entered their reception, divided by a large white sheet to separate the women and men. A meat meal was served (and was incredibly delicious), and the bride and groom broke their challah after saying a prayer. Each side danced the night away, including elaborate signs, and performances from their guests.
The deep tradition throughout the entire day was absolutely beautiful. Each detail so meaningful and purposeful. What an honor to get to witness it all!
To the New Mr. & Mrs. Stein:
David and Tali, we could not be more happy for you both! You are perfectly matched, both so kind and easy-going. Getting to be there for it and meet your families was the best experience. We love you both so much! Congratulations!!
