On a gazebo overlooking the lake, Alexis made her way down the aisle to Kyle, her soon to be husband, with tears in his eyes. She was a vision in white with the biggest smile on her face, and you could see how proud her dad was as he held her arm tight before giving her away!
Getting Ready
The morning of Alexis and Kyle’s wedding was the perfect clear day and super warm and sunny. The birds flew over the lake, including an eagle that lives near the property, and you could feel all the excitement in the air. Starting with the guys, they took a moment to throw the groom into the air – total celebration style – and enjoy some beers. Kyle then opened up a watch from Alexis – her gift to him on their wedding day.
Once our bride arrived, it was time to get her dressed with her mama and mama-in-law-to-be. What’s really special about this group is that everyone on both sides feels like family. They’re truly all friends and partied together as one big family until the last second of the night. These three ladies snuggled in before getting Alexis ready for a first look with her dad and with her bridesmaids. Both these first looks were met with happy tears and lots of hugs. It’s really sweet to be around so many people so ready to cheer on the couple!
The Ceremony
As the ceremony started, Kyle made his way up the steps of the gazebo to await his bride – the guests facing the gorgeous lake behind them. The second he saw Alexis, his eyes teared up and you could feel how ready he was to call this beautiful lady his forever. (If you haven’t read their love story, you totally should HERE). The officiant spoke about the commitment of marriage and how it reflects Christ’s sacrificial love for us. I actually found myself taking notes between photos because it was that beautiful of a ceremony. She truly captured exactly what marriage is about and the dedication and community you need to make it last forever.
Starting the Party + Vows
After portraits with the most FUN bridal party (I mean seriously, look how cute these photos are), it was time to start the partayyy! They shared their first dance, parent dances, cake cutting, and bouquet and garter tosses after the most delicious dinner, and then we stole the newlyweds away to read their sunset vows.
For couples who’d rather share their promises in private, this is an absolutely amazing option. It’s truly magical to get to watch them say everything they’re feeling and watch the intimacy between them. Kyle and Alexis’s were no different, and we teared up watching the movie-ready moment unfold. Next up were some final bride and groom portraits before heading back into the reception and starting the dancing.
The Reception
Like we said before, these families are truly great friends! Looking around the floor, you could catch glimpses of the mama’s dancing together, mom and daughter dancing, and everything in between. It was truly a party and everyone had a blast. The Nagy’s and Meffert’s know how to do weddings right!!
