In the spring of her junior year, Eva started her new job, where Anthony had been working for a few months. While most introductions were quick and routine, he was the only one who went out of his way to say hello to her and show her the ropes. That simple act stood out — and it became the start of a friendship that would quietly shape the years ahead.

Time passed and they were on different paths. He joined the Marine Corps. She finished high school. But life, as it often does, found a way to circle back.

When they reconnected, everything felt different — easy, familiar, meant to be. What had started as a workplace friendship turned into something much deeper. It was the kind of love they’d been looking for all along.

Their Carlsbad Proposal

As a married couple ourselves, we can attest that when you know, you really do know. Fast forward not even a year and Anthony had the ring ready, waiting for the right moment. Between travel, work at the southern border, and a last-minute assignment in Yuma, he could hardly wait to pick it up. When the day finally came, he planned an evening that felt just like them — simple, meaningful, and full of love.

He took her to one of their favorite spots, McClellan Airport near Palomar Road — a quiet place they’d gone to often, watching planes take off. They set up their phone to “record” the moment, something they always did together. But this time, the video captured something different: the moment Anthony got down on one knee.
