If you would have told little 16-year-old me that the sweet girl sitting next to me in history class would be my bride in a few years, I would have never believed that something so special would happen. But here we are, four years later, and I get to see Natalie marry her prince charming, Taylon!
The second we sat down for our meeting for Natalie’s wedding, I was so excited to catch up on all the life that has gone on in the past few years. And what was so cool is that right after her high school story that I was a part of ended, her story with Taylon at OSU was beginning! She told me about the cute boy at the elevator that was in her class freshman year, the start of their friendship, and how that friend became so much more when he asked her to take a chance with him. My heart was filling to the brim as she explained how that boy became the military man she plans to spend the rest of her life with.
Needless to say, I could not wait to meet Taylon at their engagement session at Ohio State University – the place these two met and got engaged!
If you know anything about Buckeye tradition, there is a walkway that holds significance for many couples, just like N&T. The goal is to get from the start of the walkway to the end without anyone crossing your path, and if you make it, you are allegedly destined to be together. I’ll give you one guess who took that walk on their first date without a single interruption…
When it came time to take the next step, Taylon planned the engagement so thoughtfully, leaving a letter for Natalie after she got home from work to go to their spot where that first date took place three years ago. And that is where he popped the question!!
Hearing that story, and getting to walk that path with them both was perfect. But that is not the only little story that has meaning for them. As these two showed me and my sister (my assistant for the day) around this gorgeous campus, they also told us all about life after their wedding while Taylon serves in the army. N&T have matching necklaces complete with the Bible verse from Genesis 31:49 which says, “The Lord watch between you and me, when we are out of one another’s sight.” – my heart!! I love getting to hear and see all the little things that hold significance for my couples.
Driving three hours was worth every second to have this magical morning with two of the most kind people I have ever met, and I seriously wish every weekend could be spent this way!
Congratulations, you two!! I am already counting down the days until your wedding next spring!
