Sharing love stories is one of my favorite parts of my job, but for this special duo, this starts back in high school as friends and prom dates. Kristen and I actually cheered together in high school, and I remember during one of her practices her talking about this boy, Dylan, who she had gone to prom with. She spoke about him like his was the most special guy on earth, but that she felt a relationship between them didn’t have a chance at the time since he was going off to college and she was still in high school. But by the way she spoke, we all hoped she would someday end up with this sweet guy.
Once Kristen graduated, she went to a friend’s get together where Dylan happened to also be a guest. All night long, they talked and caught up over the year apart, and the sparks were flying. He took her on their very first date to go ice skating, and they never were bored the entire time. Conversation was so easy, and their relationship blossomed.
Since then, these two have lived through so much together, including moving into a free hole-in-the-wall place at first, which they both laugh about now, until they found their new apartment in the Columbus suburbs.
Kristen knew after conversations with her man that an engagement would be coming at some point, but Dylan really surprised her. He planned for her family to come to the city for dinner without her knowing, and during a “brand shoot” he said he needed her help with, he got down on one knee. Their friend, Grant, photographed their proposal and then he took her to dinner where she was surprised with her entire family and besties.
These two are simply a perfect match. They are best friends, which is so evident even in the way they tell stories together. Every laugh shows how important it is for them to enjoy life with the other at their side, and they go out of their way to make the other feel appreciated. I loved every second of their engagement session, and running around during gorgeous weather in the autumn leaves is hard to beat!!
Congratulations, Kristen and Dylan! You two are such incredible people, and even better together. You are an inspiration of what real love looks like, and I am so happy for you both! I cannot wait for next October!!
