A full-circle moment. As Kevin and Jenny walked up with their stroller, I caught a glimpse of a tiny face peeking out. It had been a year since I photographed their maternity session at Scripps Pier, and now I was finally meeting their daughter, Ella.

One of the most beautiful parts of this job is capturing the different seasons of a family’s life. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness expectant couples bloom into confident, loving parents, and their babies grow.

For their first family session, we met at Del Mar Beach. The sun bathed the sand and water in the most perfect golden light. The evening felt calm and steady — much like Jenny and Kevin themselves. Ella’s smiles and giggles filled the session with joy as she played with her favorite things: the sand, her toys, and, most of all, her mom and dad. She is soft and sweet and absolutely perfect. As the waves crashed and the sun tucked in for the evening, the three of them created incredible images.

I couldn’t be happier for the beautiful little family they’ve begun, and can’t wait to watch them grow in the years ahead. J & K, thank you for trusting me with this new season of your lives. You are truly the best!
