Nestled among olive trees, lush gardens, and Spanish-style architecture, Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Rancho Santa Fe. Known for its intimate luxury, world-class service, and beautiful event spaces, it’s easy to see why couples dreaming of a sophisticated Southern California wedding are drawn to this iconic property.
This editorial, designed and planned by Bryce Gaston Events, blended refined luxury with elevated country charm. Inspired by the natural beauty of Rancho Santa Fe and the equestrian heritage of the surrounding community, every detail felt intentional, timeless, and effortlessly elegant.
Getting Ready at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa
The day began in one of Rancho Valencia’s bathrooms, where the bride dressed in a chic robe paired with heels. The warm tones and natural light throughout the property created the perfect setting for luxury bridal portraits.
One of our favorite spots from the morning was the balcony overlooking Rancho Valencia’s famous tennis courts. The peaceful setting and lush landscaping created a romantic backdrop that felt distinctly Southern California while maintaining the exclusivity and sophistication the resort is known for.
Playful Looks at the Croquet Lawn
For couples considering a Rancho Valencia wedding, the Croquet Lawn offers incredible versatility. Located adjacent to the resort’s restaurant, this space is often used for wedding ceremonies, welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, and cocktail hours.
Embracing the editorial’s country-inspired theme with a game of croquet, the playful moments between Brooklynn & AJ highlighted how couples can utilize the lawn throughout their wedding weekend.
After the game, the bride changed into a breathtaking Reem Acra New York ballgown featuring a sweetheart neckline and delicate floral appliqué detailing throughout the bodice. Paired with the groom’s tan suit accented by rich brown details, the look perfectly balanced luxury with countryside charm.
To further incorporate Rancho Santa Fe’s equestrian roots, the couple posed alongside a beautiful horse, creating some of the most memorable images from the day. The combination of couture fashion and equestrian elements felt both elevated and authentic to the region.
Valencia Lawn Ceremony Inspiration
The editorial then moved to the Valencia Lawn, one of the most recognizable ceremony locations at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa.
Bryce and San Diego florist, French Girl Florals, brought a ceremony design inspired by untamed countryside meadows to life. The floral installations featured whimsical blooms, soft textures, and intentionally overgrown arrangements that felt as though they had naturally emerged from the landscape itself. To break up the seating, they featured different rows of stone and sage green chairs. The design beautifully complemented the surrounding greenery while maintaining the elegance expected from a luxury wedding venue.
For this portion of the day, the bride changed into a stunning Steven Khalil gown. Known for his impeccable corsetry, voluminous silhouettes, and intricate craftsmanship, the designer’s signature style added drama and sophistication.
Following the ceremony portraits, we explored The Rose Garden for additional bridal portraits. The garden’s romantic pathways and blooming roses offered yet another example of the diverse backdrops available throughout Rancho Valencia’s expansive property.
Reception Design on the Sunrise Patio
As the sun began to set, the celebration transitioned to the Sunrise Patio.
Framed by elegant columns and a beautiful fountain, the patio provided a stunning setting for an al fresco reception. The design centered around two King’s tables joined together to create one long, inviting dining experience.
Cream ruffled seating softened the space while patterned blue floral linens introduced subtle color and texture. Each place setting featured layered cream plates, a blue bread plate, brown glassware, and brass flatware, creating a tablescape that felt curated.
Down the center of the table, whimsical florals echoed the ceremony design while gold lamps added warmth and dimension. The result was a reception that felt romantic, welcoming, and effortlessly luxurious.
A Creative Wedding Cake Inspired by Rancho Santa Fe
The groom transitioned into a classic black and white tuxedo while the bride wore a lace trumpet gown paired with a custom Juliette cap veil. The vintage-inspired styling added a fresh layer of elegance and perfectly complemented the European-inspired architecture.
The reception concluded with one of the most unique wedding cakes we’ve seen.
The three-tier design by Laura Marie Cakes featured exceptionally narrow tiers adorned with edible florals and delicate detailing. A custom gold horse wax seal was a nod to the shoot’s equestrian inspiration and also appeared in the invitation suite.
The result was artistic, intentional, and unlike anything typically seen at weddings today.
Champagne Portraits to End the Evening
As evening settled over the property, we ended the editorial with champagne portraits near the ballroom — the bride in a short, “second look” reception dress.
The glow of the resort’s architecture, combined with the celebratory atmosphere, created a romantic ending to an unforgettable day. These final images perfectly captured the essence of the editorial: elevated luxury rooted in warmth, storytelling, and thoughtful design.
