Most of the family photography sessions I capture are with toddlers and young kiddos, and it makes sense! As children get older, activities fill the calendar, and fitting in time to capture everyone becomes more and more difficult. This past fall, the LaDues made it a priority to grab a snapshot of this time in their lives, and I couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out!

Mountain Ranges and Golden Light at South Lake Park

Offering gorgeous views all year round, one of my favorite spots to capture lifestyle sessions is South Lake Park in San Marcos! With easy-to-walk trails, nearby parking, and stunning mountain ranges, it’s like nothing else around. In the spring, lilac florals cover the landscape, while the fall offers rich greenery and sprinkles of golden leaves.

Meeting up with the LaDues, I could immediately sense how special these images would be for the parents, Jodi and Bob. Their oldest, Mason, is coming into his own, playing high school basketball and growing into a gentle young man. Harlen, their beautiful daughter, is mature beyond her years and sweet as can be. And their youngest, River, is full of spunk and joy! I had a lot of fun getting to capture their laughs together and portraits of them at this stage.

In addition to the must-have family portraits and images of the children, I love to take time to capture the love that started it all. Jodi and Bob are such a great duo! Both hardworking and charming, it’s easy to see why they picked one another. Taking a moment just the two of them, it made me smile watching them soak in the life they’ve built.

What stands out to me about these family photos is the way their personalities bounce off one another! The light was cozy, the weather was perfect, and everyone brought their authentic selves. The best moments are when everyone relaxes into who they are around the dinner table or during a game night, and these photos reflect just that!
