Throwback...Tuesday?💍⠀ ⠀ One of my favorite parts of meeting with my couples is telling them about the wedding that made me fall in love with this type of photography, because their reactions are absolutely priceless. And so today, I’m going to take a moment to explain how my very first wedding EVER (including any second shooting), this beautiful wedding above, was thrown into my lap hours before the ceremony...⠀ ⠀ Say whaaaaat? Yes, you heard that right. I was never booked. There was no consultation, No contracts, no invoices. I was never supposed to shoot this wedding, and I didn’t know how to photograph a wedding, but it happened.⠀ ⠀ What’s funny is that I was supposed to do the bridal party’s hair and makeup that morning, and as I was doing someone’s makeup, the photographer wasn’t going to be able to shoot this wedding due to some technical difficulties. Knowing I had taken some senior photos, he asked if I had my camera (which I always carried in my car at the time), and would be willing to do it in his place.⠀ ⠀ Now please imagine 18 year old me: No warning. No appropriate equipment. No clue how to do this. It’s RAINING. And now about two hours before the ceremony, I was the wedding photographer. But I took a deep breath, thought of all the photos I’d seen on Pinterest, and pulled it off. And it was the BEST thing I ever did. I’ve wanted to photograph weddings ever since.⠀ ⠀ But the moral of the story is that there is seriously nothing you can throw at me on your wedding day that I can’t handle. I’m ready for any catastrophe, just throw it my way!! I have made it safely home (again) from the beautiful Washington, D.C.!!☕️ . I haven’t stopped traveling this month which has been a LOT but I loved it. I don’t want to run a business, I want to run a BRAND✨ Double tap for branding tips!! . I didn’t really understand what that meant not too long ago. Weren’t they the same thing? Did brand mean I needed a clothing company? I didn’t know. A brand is more than a business. It’s got its own personality. It’s own tribe of people who not only support it, but rave about the experience and the work that goes on in the company. A brand is more than the colors and the fonts and the website. It is the feel and the relationships that a company builds to create a brand. We’re halfway through the week, y’all! Double tap for that!!❤️⠀ ⠀ I spent yesterday morning with this sweet beauty and the entire time was filled with fun conversation and me saying, “Wow this is unfair!! You’re too beautiful!”😍 And I meant that both on the inside and the outside.⠀ ⠀ One of our convos was simply about her repping for me this year, and Chasie said something that completely warmed my heart. She told me that when she talks to other people about working with me, that she tells them they get more than just photos - they get a friend who hyped you up and talks to them about everything.⠀ ⠀ YOU GUYS MY HEART😭 That was just SO kind, and I’m lucky to have Chasie on my team.
