As a mostly portrait photographer, most of my sessions are based around reflecting my client’s personality, keeping the attention on them, and less on artistic ability. But one of the many reasons I was so excited to work with Rachel was because I knew she would push me out of my comfort zone – and I am in love with the results!

Rachel Daloise is a local cosmetologist with incredible talent when it comes to all things beauty. From hair, to makeup, to wardrobe, she always looks stunning, and I knew that this session would be incredible in every way.

After arriving at our location, I look one look at Rachel and was instantly speechless. Just look at how fabulous she looks. The black dress with a cut-out back and crystal detail, the iconic red-bottom heels, the fur coat, and the jewelry accents, made Rachel look red carpet-ready, and I was all about it. Just look at her!

This picture is so different from anything I usually do because, like I said earlier, my pictures are almost always based on a person, not on an idea or concept. Both the color and the shapes are what makes the composition so good, and it was refreshing to have a shoot that allowed my creativity to flow.

Using art to make art

(Apologies to the security guard that told us we were getting a tad too close to the sculptures. We did not mean to alarm you, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do)

Boyfriends are great for many things, including carrying coats or, occasionally, entertaining everyone by having pictures taken in said coat. In my opinion, I think Christian looks a bit like Macklemore with this look – lol.

Look at her makeup!! She is truly glowing and her eyelashes and eyebrows are to die for! (Highly recommend Rachel for any type of event, by the way)

This last picture has to be my favorite, although it is very hard to choose because she knows how to work a camera. It is beautiful and completely focused on her (there is a reason why I do portraits). Her eyes are that warm chocolate brown that show up so well in this shot, and the bokeh (camera term for blurry background) is so soft and lovely.

This shoot was great in so many ways. It was so nice to work with someone who has modeled before and was not afraid to go all-out in every aspect. Thank you so much, Rachel, for working with me and for helping me grow in my craft! I loved working with you, and hope to do it again soon!
